Poets Corner

The following poems are written in the style of the love poetry of the book,
Songs of Songs, in the Old Testament.

They are contemplative however in that they celebrate the advent of God’s presence
at our center and still point.

Following the poems is an article on contemplative prayer and its path.

Lord, give me peace!
Let your firm hands
touch - calm my  turning insides –
feelings, memories, hurts.
Bring your light - warmth
to sooth the noise - static.

As we are faithful and grow in our contemplative life, we realize that the silence of our prayer has a deep healing effect in our life. The sitting in silence and resting in the presence of God gives us a different perspective. . . .

2010 United in Prayer Day

Friends Meeting House Westbury
SATURDAY, March 20, 2010

Contemplative Outreach invites all to participate in the annual Global Day of Prayer at the Friends Meeting House, Westbury.

Coffee and Tea served in the morning. Please bring a brown bag lunch.
The day will include centering prayer, sharing, and fellowship.
Suggested donation is $15.

Centering Prayer Weekend Retreat

Our Annual Silent Retreat

June 25, 26, 27, 2010

This retreat is for beginners in Centering Prayer as well as those advanced in the practice. The retreat offers an opportunity to develop your relationship with God in a prayerful atmosphere of silence, solitude and community support. Periods of Centering Prayer, Lectio Divina, organized presentations, and personal prayer time are scheduled. The spacious, wooded, and beautifully landscaped grounds of this estate are available for walking, reading and personal reflection.
